Cooley Dickinson Hospital to Offer Free HeartSaver Courses for Community Members

January 17, 2025

In observance of American Heart Month in February, Cooley Dickinson Hospital is offering free HeartSaver CPR/AED courses for community members. Classes are taught by American Heart Association-certified instructors.

The free courses will be held on Monday, February 3 and Tuesday, February 18 from 5 – 7:30 pm in the hospital’s Dakin Conference Room.

The AHA’s HeartSaver CPR AED course curriculum is designed to train participants to give CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training; this course is not appropriate for medical providers.

“Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States,” said Dr. Sundeep “Sunny” Shukla, MD, Emergency Department Physician and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. “By offering these free classes to our community during American Heart Month, we encourage everyone to learn the skills necessary to help save a life.”
