Biography
Tara first became exposed to midwifery in 1993, in Dhorpatan, Nepal, during a home stay with a Tibetan family. The first night she arrived, the oldest daughter went into labor and was attended by her mother (the village midwife), and her grandmother. She has volunteered as a health care provider in Nicaragua and at inner cities domestically. For the last 15 years of her career, Tara has worked as a nurse midwife at Baystate Medical Center Springfield. At Baystate, she served as a faculty member for the midwifery education program, and was a preceptor for medical students and residents.
Tara has practiced yoga since she was a teenager, and has been teaching pre- and post-natal yoga for the past 20 years. She likes to bounce on her family’s trampoline, and is an avid mountain-climber and a cook. Above all she loves being a mama to her two amazing kids.
