Corporate Matching Gifts

Many companies offer this benefit and have matching gift forms available that employees’ complete first and then send to CDH. Your gift will have even greater impact.

Securities

By making a gift of appreciated securities, you can avoid the burden of a capital gains tax assessment and preserve cash assets. For information and instructions, please contact Linda Medeiros, Director of Development Operations, at 413-582-2885.

Life Insurance

If you own a life insurance policy that is no longer needed, consider it as the perfect vehicle for a charitable gift.

Personal Property

Gifts of tangible personal property, such as art or jewelry, may be considered. Please contact us at 413-582-GIVE (4483) or 413-582-2255 for further information regarding tax deductibility guidelines.

IRA

If you are 70 ½ or older, you may make a gift directly to Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice from your IRA. For instructions and information, please contact Jenny Papageorge, Director of Planned Giving, at 413-582-2687.

Real Estate

Gifts of appreciated real estate are similar to gifts of appreciated stock. If you have owned the property for more than one year, you may deduct, as a charitable contribution, the fair market value of the real estate while avoiding capital gains taxes.

Gift and Estate Planning

Jenny Papageorge, our Director of Planned Giving, is happy to have a confidential conversation to help you build a legacy while helping yourself, your loved ones, and impacting the Cooley Dickinson Hospital families well into the future. If you’ve already included Cooley Dickinson Hospital in your estate plans or named us a beneficiary of your IRA or life insurance, we’d love to welcome you as a member of our Caleb Cooley Dickinson Society. It is recommended that you check with your financial advisor regarding which option works best with your personal and philanthropic planning. Please call or write if you have any questions on how to make a gift.  We are most grateful for your support throughout the year.

Keep our Community Strong

Caleb Cooley DickinsonOn New Year’s Day 1886, the first hospital in Hampshire County opened its doors with 12 beds, a doctor’s chamber, and an operating room. A generous bequest left by Caleb Cooley Dickinson made this momentous occasion possible.

For over 130 years, Cooley Dickinson Hospital has relied on the generosity of individuals who, like Caleb Cooley Dickinson, understand the critical role a hospital plays in ensuring the health and well being of our community.

Today, given the high costs of technological medical advances and retaining outstanding medical staff, the need for charitable support is greater than ever. Furthermore, our affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital empowers us to provide world-class medical care within a community hospital setting.  The cost of such excellence comes with a price. We are not reimbursed for clinical oversight and management, telemedicine, and other technical costs that enable us to provide direct, real-time access to MGH physicians in Boston. Help improve the health and vibrancy of our community by supporting your local world-class hospital. Make a tax-deductible gift today.
