Abdominal Transplant Evaluation Clinics
Liver Transplant Evaluation Clinic
Local Access to a Valuable Service
Massachusetts General Hospital’s liver transplant program now offers monthly evaluations at Cooley Dickinson Hospital for patients who may be candidates for a liver transplant. One of Mass General’s experienced hepatologists and transplant surgeons will evaluate people who suffer from any of the following conditions:
- Advanced Hepatitis
- Cirrhosis
- Liver Cancer
- Fatty Liver Disease
- Other End-stage Liver Disease
The likelihood of being listed for transplant is greatly affected by how close you live to a liver transplant center, so having access to evaluation is a strong step toward getting on a list as an eligible recipient. All patients in need are encouraged to be evaluated; evaluations take place at the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, and all transplants are performed at the Mass General Transplant Center in Boston.
Cooley Dickinson Hospital became an affiliate of Mass General and the Partners HealthCare System in 2013, and has already developed ongoing exchanges of information, technology, and medical staff in areas including cardiology, stroke, cancer and maternal fetal medicine. Both Cooley Dickinson and the Mass General providers who run the liver transplant evaluation program are excited about being able to offer this service in a location that puts many more potential recipients within reach of evaluation.
Kidney Transplant Evaluation Clinic
