Spine Medicine Overview

Local, specialized care for spine-related health

Welcome to Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Spine Medicine. We are pleased to provide expert diagnosis and treatment of disorders causing neck, upper back and low back pain, including special expertise in diagnosis and treatment of sacroiliac problems (where the spine meets the pelvis).

Experience you can trust

With advanced fellowship training in both Orthopedics and Interventional Spine Medicine, Richard Norris, MD, has 30 years of successful experience establishing accurate diagnoses and prescribing comprehensive treatment plans. Our office is equipped with a state-of-the-art fluoroscopy suite for interventional and diagnostic procedures. Though our approach is nonsurgical, we have close ties with both local and Boston-based spine surgeons, should a condition warrant surgical referral.

Our Care Philosophy

We believe that you, the patient, are the most important member of the care team. Our focus on patient education is exceptional and we often hear patients exclaim: “no one ever explained that to me so clearly before!” The more you know about your condition, diagnosis and treatment plan, the more effective your outcome will be.

What we ensure for every patient:

  • Detailed written physical therapy prescriptions, emphasizing contraindications
  • All physical therapy prescriptions thoroughly reviewed with you by Dr. Norris
  • Detailed recommendations regarding modification of work and recreational activities
  • Instructions for home exercises given at time of office visit
  • MRIs and X-rays reviewed with you

We always keep your primary care provider updated. If you have alternative care providers, we are happy to work with them to enhance and maximize your health. Learn how we can help you resume comfortable, active living. Call 413-584-5384 to make an appointment.
